The Gaga Effect

The Gaga Effect

They say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. If this is the case, then Lady Gaga should be feeling extremely pleased with herself.

Not only has she sold millions of records and won enough awards to fill her mantelpiece, other female celebrities have been spotted making the most of Gaga's style.

The Gaga Effect

Christina Aguilera's new music video for her single Not Myself Tonight has been hailed as a copycat of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance video which was released last year.

The Gaga Effect

What do you think?

A true rocker:

We didn't think anyone could ever beat the onstage antics of Ozzy Osbourne.

Particularly the infamous 1982 incident when he bit the head of a live bat.

But it looks like Lady Gaga is doing her best to match his standards.

It would seem that tummy rumblings, or perhaps emotion, got the better of Lady Gaga at her recent Dublin concert as she bit the pretty head straight off a Barbie doll.

Maybe it was a controversial move to bring her closer to the king of rock? Or maybe Gaga was jealous of Barbie's perfect figure. We've all been there, haven't we?

Whatever the reason, let's just hope Gaga sticks to practising her new habit on plastic people only.

While Gaga might take inspiration from Ozzy, there's a few people who look to the Lady herself.

Lady Gaga to rally in Maine against 'don't ask'

PORTLAND, Maine – Lady Gaga wants Maine's Republican senators to cast votes this week to help repeal the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays.

The Grammy Award-winning pop singer will attend a rally organized by Servicemembers Legal Defense Network on Monday in Deering Oaks Park, near the University of Southern Maine's Portland campus.

Lady Gaga is expected to stand alongside veterans who were discharged because of the policy, which prohibits service members from revealing if they're gay, the group said. The policy also bars military recruiters from asking about people's sexual orientations.

A proposal to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy is attached to the defense authorization bill, which Democrats will try to bring to a vote this week.

Democrats need 60 votes on Tuesday to cut off debate and proceed to the bill, again putting Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine in the role of casting what could be deciding votes in the Senate, said Trevor Thomas, spokesman for Servicemembers Legal Defense Network.

"We need the support of Collins and Snowe and the best way to get it is to be able to be in their backyard," Thomas told The Associated Press.

Collins previously voted for a provision to repeal the "don't ask" policy in the Armed Services Committee, but she wants "a full and open debate" on the defense authorization bill as well as the ability for Republicans to offer amendments, said her spokesman, Kevin Collins.

Snowe has not decided how she'll vote on Tuesday, a spokesman said Monday.

Lady Gaga recently called on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to repeal the policy during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres. Gaga is known for her outlandish wardrobe and catchy hits, including "Bad Romance," "Paparazzi" and "Poker Face."

VIDEO: Lady Gaga Breaks Up Fight With Her Voice And Bottom

There is literally nothing that Lady Gaga can’t do. She can wear impractical frocks, and she can, um…

Look, it’s mainly the impractical dress thing, OK? She’s not exactly a superhero, is she? Honestly, you lot should really consider re-evaluating the level of personal investment you put into these people. It’s not doing you any good. So Lady Gaga can wear some uncomfortable-looking clothes and do a passable imitation of Madonna. So what? She’s just a person. What else has she ever done that’s so great? Huh?

Oh, actually she managed to stop a fight at one of her recent concerts by shouting at the audience and then sort of wiggling her bum around a bit. That’s sort of cool. If you like that sort of thing. There’s a video of it after the jump if you’re really that interested. You are? Oh, you people.

Having seen some of her music videos, it seems clear to how how Lady Gaga should break up a fight. She should either covertly poison the instigator to death like in the Telephone video, or she should copy the Alejandro video and just get a police to dress up in a bondage outfit and stand around forlornly while a bunch of men bum each other in the background. That would almost definitely stop most fights.

But just because Lady Gaga should stop fights like that, it doesn’t mean that she will. She could just as easily stop whichever song she’s performing halfway through, yell as hard as she can and then, somewhat ashamed that she’s just essentially screamed a variation of “LEAVE IT! HE’S NOT WORTH IT!” like a drunk girl at a wedding, ask people how sexy they think she is, wiggle her bottom about and fall over. That would also work.

And it did. This week in Washington, a fight broke out between two audience members at a Lady Gaga concert. Nobody knows what they fighting about – maybe one was obscuring the other’s view of Gaga’s crotch-bulge, or perhaps they couldn’t decide which of her songs sounded the most like an existing Madonna song – but it took Lady Gaga to put an end to it. Look…

See? See the positivity that Lady Gaga spreads? Her concerts are all about love and unity and happiness. And T-shirts. And lightning bolt make-up kits. And tour programmes that cost $75 a pop. And, to be honest, a lot of songs that all sound quite similar.

But, you know, mainly love and unity and happiness and shit like that.

"lady gaga gossip"

Always keeping things interesting, Lady Gaga was in party mode as she partook in the first day of the 2010 Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago, Illinois on Friday (August 6).

Held in Grant Park, the "Alejandro" singer surprised her many fans as she stepped out in a see-through bodysuit to go crowd surfing at the BMI stage as Semi-Precious Weapons performed.

As for her night-ending set, Gaga treated the crowd to an energetic show while speaking to the crowd much more than has been usual during her never-ending Monster Ball tour.

Among the highlights, the 24-year-old became quite emotional before a version of “Speechless,” during which she praised her father for being her inspiration - telling a story about how he "kicked off her music career by helping her carry her piano up a long staircase at their New York apartment when she was a kid."
stirring up controversy? It's a weekly occurrence.

This instance is a bit surprising, however, because all she did was play a the piano. It just happened to be John Lennon's famous white Steinway piano.

The late icon's son, Sean Lennon, posted the Gaga photo on Twitter with the caption: "With gaga at mom's house, she's belting on the white piano..."

Some fans were irate that she dared play the instrument, a gift from John to Sean's mother, Yoko Ono, and it sits out in the open at Yoko's home.

The image of her at the iconic instrument sparked replies such as "WHY WOULD YOU LET LADY GAGA PLAY ON JOHN'S PIANO? I'm disappointed. >:("

Lady Gaga, Beatles PianoLady Gaga channels John Lennon on the icon's own piano.

Sean Lennon replied, "pianos meant are to be played. Why is everyone so uptight? What should we do, lock it away in a dusty room? So judgmental."

He took the picture down, but added, "Firstly, he gave that piano to my mother for her birthday, it is hers, secondly, he was not uptight the way you seem to be ... Come on, lighten up...life's too short, there're enough real problems in the world...."

Her fame buoyed by outrageous outfits, bombastic videos and even the occasional hermaphrodite rumors, it's easy to overlook that Lady Gaga can play.

She was classically trained in the piano from age four on, with prodigal results. Gaga began writing songs at age 13 and majored in the subject at NYU.

In fact, here's Gaga performing John Lennon's "Imagine" at the Human Rights Campaign's National Dinner in 2009. Think she's worthy of the Steinway?

Having already worn an Animal skirt and an ensemble of Kermit the Frog dolls last year, Lady Gaga is not opposed to melding high fashion and stuffed animals.

The outrageous star traded in her favorite Muppets for another childhood icon last night, though: Hello Kitty! The occasion? Tuesday's episode of Double Exposure.

Lady Gaga elevated Hello Kitty to a sexy new level while shooting the 35th Anniversary campaign for the character at the London shoot for the Bravo series.

Famed photographers Markus Klinko and Indrani (who was linked to Lindsay Lohan recently) chronicled the shoot with the "Alejandro" singer in all her glory.

The songstress and girlfriend of Luc Carl donned a custom gown adorned with stuffed Hello Kitty dolls and accessories, from sky-high pumps to a bedazzled belt.

Lady Gaga and Luc Carl: Playing it Cool

Trolling for dirt on Luc Carl? Don't expect much from his work.

The New York City bartender and ex-boyfriend of Lady Gaga, who is reportedly back together with the singer now, works at St. Jerome's in the East Village.

Recently Lady Gaga has been hanging around the bar again, fueling speculation that she and Luc Carl are back together. If so, they are keeping it very quiet.

His co-workers protect his cover, too. Customers have spotted a sign over by the telephone that instructs employees to tell callers, "I don't know Luc."

Luc Carl's pseudo-celebrity status hasn't stopped Gaga from stopping by. She visited him on Saturday night, one day after she rocked the Today show.

Sounds like Luc Carl is Gaga for this lovely Lady again.

Sipping red wine at the bar with her bodyguard, "She was playing it really cool," a witness says. "You would not have even known they were together."

According to Gagapedia, Luc Carl is a club promoter, musician, DJ, author, bartender, personal trainer, and semi-pro bowler from Omaha, Nebraska.

It's unclear when they got back together, but he currently lives in New York City, and works at two bars, St. Jerome's, and Welcome To The Johnsons.

He dated Lady Gaga for three years, and is the source of inspiration for many songs she wrote during that time - including her newest, "You and I."

Here's hoping it works out!

Lady Gaga Braves Rain, Wows Today Show Crowd

A little rain couldn't slow down Lady Gaga's reign.

The singer played a full half-hour set on the Today show, belting out her newest song “You and I” (reportedly written for boyfriend Luc Carl) and some of her other hits.

Originally wearing oversized sparkle-encrusted bug goggles, she finished the routine without them. She did her traditional heel-banging on the piano, not to worry.

Here's the powerhouse performer in action ...

A Lady Gaga live performance is a uniquely awesome experience.

Luc Carl: Dating Lady Gaga ... Again?

Is Lady Gaga giving a bad romance a second chance?

Maybe it'll be better this time around. The singer and her former boyfriend, musician / bartender Luc Carl, have recently reconciled, according to reports.

Luc Carl and Lady Gaga split a few years ago – but the pair started dating again a few weeks ago. Last month, the couple went public for the first time.

They attended a New York Mets game together ... the one ending with Gaga flipping the bird at photographers and Jerry Seinfeld saying he hates her.

In any event, Luc is happy to be back in the LoveGame.

LUC IN LOVE: Lady Gaga's ex-boyfriend, Luc Carl, is back in her life - and clearly a major influence on the musician both personally and professionally.

"Gaga's first album is entirely about their relationship and her latest song, 'You and I,' is about how they got back together," adds a source close to her.

"They've been in love for a while."

If the song's lyrics mean anything, Gaga keeps her new man close: "It's been a long time but I'm back in town/But this time I'm not leaving without you."

Gaga's rep had no comment on the relationship as she performed to a packed Rockefeller Center Friday morning for a full half-hour of the Today show.

No comment on whether Jo Calderone is really Lady G, either.

Lady Gaga in the Haus: What a Flake

Lady Gaga is flaking out at Madison Square Garden this. Only literally.

The singer is turning the world's most famous arena into the "Haus of Gaga" with three sold-out shows to ensure she takes the Big Apple to the "Monster Ball."

For the Manhattan native, the concerts are a homecoming of sorts.

While she always puts it all out there in concert, the alter ego of Jo Calderone (or vice versa) may have found another gear for her hometown fans...

Christmas in July? Lady Gaga becomes the human snowflake.

We don't know about you, but this particular getup ranks among our favorite Lady Gaga pictures. Although we're also partial to the lobster on her head.

Lady Gaga: The Queen of Facebook

More and more people are going gaga for Lady Gaga ... online.

Buoyed by outrageous costumes and smash hits like "Bad Romance," "Just Dance," "Poker Face" and "Alejandro," she's become one of the biggest names in music.

And the biggest name on Facebook among all living beings.

Friday, she surpassed 10 million fans on the social networking site, eclipsing President Barack Obama for the top spot (Britney Spears has the most Twitter fans).

Shellfish Individual

The possible alter ego of Jo Calderone is only #1 among the living, of course. According to USA Today, five entities have more Facebook fans than Lady Gaga:

1. Michael Jackson
2. Texas Hold 'em Poker
3. Family Guy
4. Mafia Wars
5. Facebook

The rumored hermaphrodite told Rolling Stone that it's her fans who motivate her: "When I wake up in the morning, I feel like any other insecure 24-year-old."

"Then I say, 'You're Lady Gaga, get up and walk the walk today.'"

Whether it is belly dancing, hip hop, ball room dancing, the cha cha, or pole dancing, any type of dancing will shape those legs. The majority of gyms across the nation will offer dance classes of some sort that incorporate dancing in the form of exercise. You can also easily buy dvd’s online of dancercise, or dance exercise videos. 3 times a week and approximately 30 minutes a session is ideal.
2. Move. Make alternatives to your mode of transportation – whether it be walking, or biking, keeping your body in motion will keep your legs in the best of shape. Lady Gaga is generally on the go 24/7, but if it’s not dancing, she is generally still on the move. So, make alternative methods of movement for yourself. Whether it be a game of tennis, or a walk to the store, you will notice your legs getting toned and slim in no time.
3. Dress the part. If it’s Lady Gaga legs you want, then it’s Lady Gaga legs you will have, if you keep yourself in check. Wear leggings, skirts, and tight fitted clothing that show off your legs whenever possible. It is easy to get out of an exercise and diet routine if you can hide the results behind baggy clothing. Perhaps start with something that is knee length and work your way upwards as you achieve your goals, and feel more comfortable revealing your skin. Before you know it you will be wearing that full body suit in no time!
